Parenting Issues, what do I need to know to support my children?
The most important element of a separation and divorce is the parenting arrangement that will be in place for the benefit of the children. Parenting time and decision making responsibility are the most vital issues to resolve quickly following a separation. Children benefit from a consistent schedule. Contact our office today to discuss a parenting plan that is right for your family.

How is entitlement to property determined? Can I protect myself?
The process of determining each spouses entitlement to property can be complicated, and differs depending on your Province. Pensions, self-employed individuals, tax liability, and other unique factors have implications for determining a spouses entitlement to family property

Child and Spousal Support, what is the entitlement?
Child and Spousal Support are each determined by two separate guidelines. Understanding how the two types of support will help determine your monthly income moving forward. Self-employed and underemployed spouses create unique issues to be resolved.
APPEALS do you need a second look?
Appealing orders of family court, requires immediate action, to comply with statutory deadlines. Our office handles appeals in the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Court of Appeal for Alberta, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Recently defended our client successfully in the Supreme Court of Canada
In the case of Surridge v. Ross, our client was successful at every stage of the case, including a leave to appeal application in the Supreme Court of Canada. The appeal commenced by the opposing party was dismissed with costs payable to our client. Read the decision here.

SUCCESS IN THE COURT OF APPEAL FOR ONTARIO
UNEQUAL PAYMENTS to family home.
In a common law relationship, the contributions to the carrying costs of a jointly held family home were a major consideration when determining the shares each party received from the sale of the home following separation
Our office successfully represented a separated spouse following the sale of the family home. Our client covered all of the carrying costs for the home, and was awarded an unequal division of the family home, including his legal costs.
PRECEDENT SETTING CASE
Security for Costs Judgment In the Court of Appeal
Successfully represented our client in a motion requiring the opposing party to pay outstanding costs and post security, in order to continue his appeal.
In a high net worth property case, our client successfully obtained an order for a forensic audit against a non-disclosing former spouse. When the opposing party appealed the order, we moved to have security posted for the more the $100,000 in costs outstanding in favour of our client.
